Long Tau Channel Officially Reopens

Long Tau channel, the main access channel for HCMC ports, has officially been re-opened by the HCM Harbour Master.

The operation of the channel had been restricted after the Vietsun Integrity capsized and sank in the channel on the 19th April 2019. Salvage operations have now been completed, and the HCMC Harbour Master has issued Circular No.286/TH-CVHHTPHCM which effectively lifts the channel restrictions.

As such, the general restrictions of Ho Chi Minh City port can be updated as follows:

  • Max DWT: 45,000MTS
  • Max Vessel Actual Displacement: 49,000MTS
  • Depth of Passing Channel: 8.5M to chart datum
  • Max Draft: 10.50m (FW)
  • Max Airdraft: 43.00m
  • Max LOA: 200.00m
  • No night time navigation for vessel with LOA over 195M and/or draft exceeding 9.50m

Ben Line Agencies Vietnam will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as required.
